Multiple Sclerosis Exercise Considerations

Exercise is obviously important no matter who you are or what ails you, for MSers and similar exercise is also a very important part of utilising brain plasticity, to get you limbs moving like they used to. The general well being of exercise and the effect it has on one's well being is amazing.

 Exercising for Multiple Sclerosis 

Here are some exercises you can do that are low impact and very beneficial for hopefully getting back to a higher level of function.

Tai Chi

This is a great form of exercising that people with Multiple Sclerosis can do quite easily as long as they can already stand, though those that are in wheelchairs are usually catered for as well, so there are no excuses!

Yoga

Is another wonderful exercise program for people who have MS, it's low impact and utilises all your muscles.

Swimming

Wonderful way for MSers to stay fit in a great resistance type of environment, if you fall over you just hit water.

Exercising Guidelines


Here's a small .pdf from the MS Society of Canada, it is a small file and has some great tips about exercising for people who have Multiple Sclerosis.

If you have a Nintendo Wii or another console platform, check for games that incorporate exercising as part of the game, you can do it in the comfort of your own home without wasting money travelling or paying constant gym membership fees.
